Spirit is a 60's psychadelic rock band, very jazz inspired, much as Soft Machine. However, they didn't hit very much popularity, and only had two or three hit singles - one of them being "Nature's Way", which is on this album.
The Twelve Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus is a loosely collected group of songs portraying a science fiction concept, and is to this day one of my favorite psychadelic rock albums, right being Pink Floyd's "The Wall".
